Grow Your Own Raw Food Diet

Once you get serious about your raw food diet you will start to think about the quality of the fruit and vegetables you are consuming. Now any fruit is better than no fruit. The same is true for eating vegetables. However there are fruit and vegetables that are a whole lot better for you thean the ones you buy in the shops.

I am talking about food that you grow your self in the garden. There is a huge trend here in the UK towards growing your own vegetables and fruit. Last year the leading seed companies reported that vegetable seed had outsold flower seeds for the first time ever. This shows an increasing consciousness in society about what we are eating and about looking after our diet. There are a number of obvious benefits to eating food straight from the garden.

Your own produce is as fresh as it can be.

There is nothing quite as satisfying as walking around you garden and picking a selection of vegetables and serving it immediately. Last summer we had some welcome but unexpected guests visit us. I offered them a meal. We then took a walk around my vegetable plot to choose what to eat. I admit I was showing off but it was a lot of fun.

Fresh raw food tastes fantastic.

The flavours you get from ultra fresh vegetables and fruit is amazing. i think there are 2 main reasons for this. Firstly the flavour has not had a chance to evaporate away and lose its bite. Secondly the varieties you grow at home taste better anyway. The supermarkets stock the main types of vegetables to suit the taste buds of the most people. So they always taste average. When you choose the types of vegetables you can choose the varieties you like.
