An organic healthy food is basically a natural food that is grown with little or no harmful substances such as pesticides and insecticides. The objective is to allow the food to grow naturally so that it can still provide the essential nutrients needed by our body.
In contrast to organic healthy food, there is the processed food which is considered man-made and potential harmful to our body. Why do we humans invent processed food? Because we want to speed up the process instead of leaving it to nature. We want chickens to be grown up in a matter of weeks rather than months, we want super-sized and juicy tomatoes with perfect skin and so forth. As a result, humans have used so much chemicals in our food nowadays.
Organic Healthy Food Used To Be The Norm
Before the agriculture revolution, organic healthy food is the norm. Natural fertilizers were used and soil were rich in nutrients because the land is allowed to rest after certain period of production. The natural process allows the soil sufficient time to replenish its nutrients. As a result, the food produced has all the complex and rich nutrients needed by our body. Today, the use of harmful substances such as pesticides and chemical fertilizers destroy much of the nutrients from the food we eat.
In the past, plants and foods are grown naturally. They are able to produce their own natural chemicals to defend themselves in the form of phytonutrients, which are mostly antioxidants. That is the reason why healthy organic food has higher level of antioxidants than processed food. Due to industrialization of food, humans start to use pesticides and other chemicals to protect the food against pests and make them grow faster. This caused the plants to stop producing their own natural phytonutrients as now they do not need to defend themselves naturally.
The manufacturers of processed food or even modern farms will tell you the level of chemicals and pesticides they used are safe. But are they really? Think about this for a moment. If the pesticides used are powerful enough to kill insects and pests, can it kill some of the tiny cells in our body, which are small than insects?
Healthy organic food does not contain any preservatives, additives or artificial coloring but most processed foods do. These artificial chemicals may do harm to a human body’s cells without our knowledge. By eating processed foods, not only are we getting insufficient nutrients our body needs, we may also be taking in dangerous chemicals that may do harm to our body over time.
So if you have a choice, choose truly natural and organic healthy food over processed foods so you achieve a healthier and longer life.
